Each year, through the Cockburn Community Fund, the City distributes more than $1m in financial support to local individuals, community groups and organisations for a wide range of activities and events.
One such recipient of the community grants was local residents group, Beeliar Community Voice (Pictured above). After seeing a need in the local community, where children were not able to easily access fitness and nutrition information due to barriers such as cost, availability and travel, the group sought assistance from the City. They were able to successfully demonstrate strong community support and resources and as a result was awarded a Community Grant towards a pilot program of free, weekly ‘Beeliar Kids Get Fit Classes’ held at the Beeliar Community Centre during school terms three and four.
If you have an idea that could benefit from a Community Grant, our next round for Community Grants, Sponsorship, Cultural Grants and Donations is opening soon, with applications closing 4pm Friday 28 September.
Grant applications can be made online at cockburn.smartygrants. com.au
